Travel Makeup Tips

When it comes packing makeup for a trip, it can easily become an overwhelming where you end up over packing products that you won’t actually use. When it comes down to it, if you’re going on a beach vacation for example, you may not need three eyeshadow palettes and 4 different eyeliners, so check out my tips below to minimize and streamline your travel makeup!

Prioritize your favorites/essentials

No matter your destination, it’s important to prioritize the products you know you cannot live without. For me, I cannot go anywhere without packing eyebrow gel, because I feel like even on my most natural days, it really pulls my look together. For some of you, it may be mascara, or lipstick. Whatever it may be, figure out what your can’t live without products and focus on packing just those.

Avoid Breakable Products

If you’re traveling by car, you shouldn’t have to worry about products breaking, but if you’re traveling by plane or any type of transportation where someone else is handling your luggage, you may want to be more aware of the types of packaging your products come in. You may not want to pack a super soft, delicate eye shadow palette, only to have it shattered upon your arrival. Pack products that you know are durable and can stand up to rigorous travel.

Find Multi-use Products

If you’re limited on space, you probably don’t want to have to bring a product for every step in your makeup routine, but don’t want to skimp on them either. My tip for this would be to find products that you can use for multiple things. For example, bronzer and highlighter can be used as eyeshadow, cream blush can be used as lipstick, and dark eyeshadow can be used as eyeliner. Get creative! There are always tons of ways you can use products for multiple different things.

My go-to travel makeup for a beach vacation:

With summer approaching fast, here’s a list of my travel makeup essentials for a beach vacation!

  • A cream highlighter-this can be used on the face and on the body for an all over glow.
  • Mascara- nothing too crazy, just something natural.
  • Eyebrow gel- I cannot live without this, it makes any natural face look even better
  • Lightweight concealer- I don’t want anything heavy, but I may still want to cover up some unevenness, so I like to have some kind of concealer.
  • Lip balm/tinted lip balm- since I’ll probably be spending all day in the, I don’t want a super intense lip stick, so I tend to stick to a lip balm or tinted lip balm if I want a little bit of color

And that’s it! I hope these tips/recommendations can help any of you out there! Xo.

May Reading List

May Reading List

Welcome back! If any of you are looking for new books to read, these four are on my current May reading list! I’m about 1/4 of the way through all of them, and they’re all quickly becoming some of my favorites.

Enlightenment Now– One of Bill Gates’ favorite books, and for good reason. It’s basically about, you guessed it, being enlightened about the world around you. A very intellectual book, but very interesting and thought provoking.

How Not to Die– The author breaks down each chapter about “how not to die from….” lung diseases, heart problems, etc. He even breaks down food and exercise and what you should be focusing on to optimize your health. It’s super easy to read and I feel like I’m learning so much about the human body and how big of a role food can play in how well it functions.

The Happiness Equation-Basically a book all about how to be happy. Might sound simple, but the approaches the author breaks down really challenge your existing perspectives about how small every day changes can really affect your overall happiness and optimism.

Intellectual Devotional- whoever came up with this is a genius. Every day of the week there’s a small, shorter than a page, little snip it about random topics like history, music, culture, etc. It’s a super easy way to learn something new every single day!

They’re all different, yet focus on the same theme- being more aware of yourself and your surroundings, and allowing yourself to be more educated to make better decisions regarding your wellbeing and happiness. If you’re in need of some motivation, I definitely recommend checking some of these out!

Top 5 Products for Glowing Skin

Top 5 Products for Glowing Skin

Welcome back! Today I’m sharing my top 5 products for glowing skin- which is perfect for the upcoming summer months! As it gets warmer outside, I like to put less and less makeup products on my face, and try to go a bit more natural. However, I still want to have glowing, smooth skin, so these products are my go-to’s to achieve natural look while still looking radiant!

Drunk Elephant T.L.C Glycolic Resurfacing Night Serum.

This one can be a bit pricey, like most of the Drunk Elephant products. BUT it’s so worth it in my opinion. After using this serum for a few months I have noticed that my pores are basically non existent and it makes my makeup go on significantly smoother. It’s great for evening out your skin tone, providing the perfect base for glowing skin.

Neutrogena Hydro Boost Cleanser

This is one of my favorite drugstore cleansers. It makes your skin feel incredibly soft and brightens up your complexion. If you have any kind of dry skin, you’ll love this cleanser because it won’t leave your skin feeling super tight and uncomfortable. But even if you have combo skin, you’ll still love this hydrating, glowy face wash that leaves your skin feeling, and looking amazing.

Ren Ready Steady Glow Daily AHA Tonic

If you’re looking for a new toner, you should definitely try this one. You get a good amount for your money, and it does an amazing job at gently exfoliating your skin while leaving it soft and glowing after. The natural ingredients work together to smooth your complexion, and give you a radiant finish.

Sephora Collection Ulta Glow Serum

I love putting this stuff on before my makeup- it truly makes you have a lit-from-within glow. It’s not heavy or super oily, and melts into your skin super fast so you can apply makeup right after. This serum is great for all skin types, and as well as give you a natural glow, will also even out your skin tone and help reduce fine lines and wrinkles (so how can you go wrong)

Pixi Rose Glow Face Mist

If you haven’t tried a Pixi face mist yet, you need to go to your local target and try one immediately. You honestly can’t go wrong with any of them, but this is one of my favorites (it’s tied for first with the Pixi Milky Hydrating Mist). The fresh rose scent makes you feel like you’re in a spa, while it moisturizes, plumps, and helps brighten your skin. I love using this at night right before I go to bed, or in the morning right before I apply my makeup.

Current Favorites: Motivational Books

Current Favorites: Motivational Books

Happy Friday everyone! Are you in need of some motivation-something to jump start you into being more productive, happy and satisfied with your life? WELL, these two books, Unfu*k Yourself by Gary John Bishop and Girl Wash Your Face by Rachel Hollis are guaranteed to get you out of whatever funk you may find yourself in.

Both books focus on readjusting your perspective so you can look at life differently and truly get the most out of it. They’re both extremely easy to read, light hearted and really get you thinking. I love reading them before bed so I can be even more reflective about my day and my actions.

I know the idea of a “self help” or “motivational” speaker type book can be a bit of a turn off, but I swear these are really worth the read. Both authors offer different perspectives and ways to change little things in your life that can really have a significant impact.

What are your favorite motivational books?

Hope everyone has a great weekend! xo.

How to Get Soft, Shiny Hair

How to Get Soft, Shiny Hair

Welcome back! I feel like I’ve been trying for years to find products that give me just-left-the-salon type hair. You know, soft, flowy, beautiful, effortless…..WELL I have finally found a collection of products that I think get you one step closer to achieving perfect hair.

Ghost Verb Oil

I’ve tried a lot of different hair oils, and this is by far the best. The lightweight formula leaves your hair soft and can smooth any frizz or fly aways you have without being overly greasy. This is my favorite finishing touch after I style my hair.

Olaplex Bond Smoother

Only one word can describe this product-amazing. You can use this on damp or dry hair, and it makes your hair feel like you’ve had a keratin treatment. What’s even better is that you only need a small amount so the bottle will last you forever.

Moroccan Oil Hydrating Styling Cream

A very similar product to Olaplex, but still necessary. I love using both, especially when I’m heat styling my hair. My hair is super prone to dryness, so it could use all the help it can get when I’m putting hot tools on it. It also smells amazing so always a nice added bonus.

It’s a 10 Miracle Leave in Product

I’ve been using this product since I was about 14, and it’s hands down the best leave in conditioner I’ve ever used. It has 10 benefits (hence the name) and it’s such an easy one-and-done type product, especially if you’re in a rush. I’m currently using the Walmart alternative, which is basically the exact same thing at a fraction of the price, so that’s a win too.

And that’s it! I hope these products can serve as good recommendations for any of you who are looking for softy, shinier hair! What are your favorite go-to hair care products?

Tips for Flawless Makeup

Tips for Flawless Makeup

So- – no one likes cakey makeup. Or makeup that doesn’t last long. Or makeup that slides all over your face. Well, if you find yourself experiencing any of these terrible makeup applications tragedies, check out my tips below for flawless makeup!

Setting Spray

Setting spray is the last step in my makeup routine, and probably my favorite. Misting a nice smelling, cooling setting spray all over your face is honestly such a relaxing feeling. Not only does setting spray lock in your entire look, but it also can really allow the makeup to sink into your skin and look flawless. Applied too much powder and look cakey? Setting spray can soften the cakey-powder appearance and allow liquid and powders to mesh together beautifully.

Some of my favorite settings sprays include the Morphe Continuous Setting Mist and Mac Fix Plus .

Applying skincare before makeup is an excellent way to create a flawless base for your makeup application. I love putting on eye cream and moisturizer before my makeup in the morning and it really helps my everything sit better on my skin. You can even use a priming moisturizer, such as the Smashbox Primerizer, or just whatever your current skincare products are. I currently am loving the Bobbi Brown Face Base!

*Note, even if you have oily skin, you should still apply a moisturizer! It’ll do wonders for your skin, I would just stick with something lightweight!

Liquid before powder

If you’re ever wondering why your makeup looks cakey, it may be because you’re applying liquid over your powder products. This is a recipe for cakey, uneven, not flawless makeup. Try to layer liquid products on before you put any powder products on and you will definitely notice the difference!

Cream instead of powder products

Generally speaking, I think cream products melt into the skin significantly better than powder products do, especially if you have dry skin like me. Cream products like highlighters and bronzers, can look so much more natural and blended when you use a cream formula. This is a sure fire way to get a natural, flawless complexion without piling on a million products. Some of my favorite cream products are the Milk Makeup Matte Bronzer and the Hourglass Vanish Flash Highlighting Stick.

I hope these tips can help you guys achieve flawless makeup! Let me know what your tips are to get perfect looking makeup.

Favorite Natural Cleaning Products

Favorite Natural Cleaning Products

Hello everyone! If you know me, you know I LOVE to clean and organize a space. Over the past year or so I’ve started taking an interest in using more natural products to clean with, and not to expose myself and those around me to the many chemicals found in regular cleaning products. The smell alone started to really turn me off from some of them, and researching more into the “cleaner” alternatives really made me rethink my approach to cleaning.

Here is a list of my all time favorite natural cleaning products that smell fantastic, work amazing, and leave you with peace of mind knowing that you are not leaving harmful chemicals on your counters and other surfaces.

Method All Purpose Spray

Mrs. Meyers Baking Soda Cream Cleanser

Method Hand Soap

Mrs. Meyers or Method Dish Soap

Seventh Generation Bathroom Cleaner

Walnut Scrubber Sponges

Basically anything from Mrs. Meyers or Method is great. I have yet to try a product from them that I don’t like. I get all my natural cleaning products from Grove Collaborative, a site that sells tons of natural products at a discount. If any of you are interested I can send you a link for a free 5 piece Mrs. Meyers set and a free VIP trial. It’s a great deal and the membership allows you to schedule monthly deliveries for restocks of your favorite items, or allows you to skip months if you don’t need products that frequently.

I hope this post encourages some of you to take a more “clean” approach to cleaning and try out some natural cleaning products!
